The first room. For children with little or no ensemble experience, learning to read notes and keep time before joining Kinder Orchestra.

About the program

Where children start.

Pre-Kinder is a class for young students who have limited ensemble playing experience. It provides instruction on note-reading and basic rhythmic training to prepare the students to enter Kinder Orchestra.

There are no strict age requirements, although members are generally under the age of 10. Pre-Kinder is featured twice a year in the annual Winter and Spring Concerts.

Where Pre-Kinder leads.

Pre-Kinder exists to prepare children for Kinder Orchestra, the first full string ensemble.

Nobody is held at one rung for a set number of years. Each semester your child can audition for the next ensemble up, whenever they feel ready to handle its requirements. Those requirements are published, so you and your child can read them together and decide when the time is right.
