The Children’s Orchestra Society was founded in New York in 1962 by Dr. Hiao-Tsiun Ma, whose first two students were his own children, one of whom was Yo-Yo Ma. It’s been teaching for 57 years and is based at the Community Church of Syosset on Long Island.

COVERAGE ARCHIVE NEEDED
Each item above needs a publication date and a link to the original piece before this reads as a press page instead of a claim. COS should also confirm the years of the Long Island Herald award, which appears in its own materials both as 2021 to 2024 and as 2022 and 2023.

PRESS KIT NEEDED
A working press page needs downloadable material: the organization logo in print and web formats, high-resolution performance photography cleared for editorial use, headshots and biographies for Dr. Yeou-Cheng Ma and Michael Dadap, a one-page fact sheet, and a short boilerplate paragraph journalists can quote. None of it exists on the site yet.
